Wedding Invitation Wording Ideas:

Thinking what wording to use on your wedding invitations can be a challenge

Checklist
Everybody's invitations will be slightly different,
but there is always some basic information that needs to be included:

- Names of the bride's parents or hosts (unless the bride and groom are inviting)
- First name of bride
- First name and surname of the bridegroom (and his title if it is a formal invitation)
- WHERE is the CEREMONEY taking place
- TIME - date, month and year of wedding
- WHERE is the RECEPTION taking place?
- RSVP date and contact details

You can also include such details as:
- Dress Code
- Theme
- Expected finish time
- Whether children are invited

The traditional approach

Here are some things you need to think about for traditional invitations:
- Invitations are usually written in the third person
- The Brides name should appear before the grooms
- Use titles when appropriate
- "The honour of your presence" is the normal wording used for invitations to a religious ceremony.
"The pleasure of your company" is the normal wording used for weddings are nonreligious venues.
- Normally, names, times and places are placed on separate lines.

Children

Inviting children or not inviting children can cause a lot of stress.
If children are invited, it is useful to make this clear by including their names on their parents invitations.
Parents should generally assume that the invitation is for only them is the children's names are not included. However, there can be some guests who will not take this obvious hint.

It can be helpful to include a short note to parents to let them know that children are not invited to the wedding.
You can use wording such as:
"We are sorry we are unable to accommodate children at our special day"
"Although we would like to invite all the children of our friends, it is only possible to accommodate the children of close family"

If childcare arrangements have been made, you will need to notify your
guests in advance.
